So, this can be nothing but a success. Loki, you are a genius.

But, seriously? How much bacon did you think we needed. Half the fridge is full of it. I mean I like bacon, too, but I think we may have reached the point where this is all we will be eating for the next half of December.

Hey Derek, that thing you wanted is all set if you want to pick it up.

This is your time to shine, Venus! They need you to impart your wisdom on the island! This is what you were brought here for! Just wait until Artemis sees you-

Oh, hi there, New Moore! I understand that some of you are having a trying time. I, too, once went through this transition from normal, beautiful, irresistible teenager to that of a wonderful magical girl, fighting for love and justice. It's hard, but you can do it. I believe in you.

Now, there are rules when it comes to being a magical girl.

[She holds up a finger.] One! Never tell your secret identity to anyone. That just puts them in danger and you don't want that! Your family could be used against you.

[Two fingers.] Two! Never hurt civilians. You want to protect them at all costs!

[Three fingers now.] Three! You fight for love and justice! You fight for true love to withstand all! You fight for justice against the forces of evil that want to take over the planet! ...or in this case, the island, but it means the same!

Now I, the sailor-suited soldier of love and beauty, Sailor Venus, will be around to answer any questions you might have.

Ladies, fluffy people, men in all those skirts that flow~ Heh
To you all I give a hello.
How are you all doing today?
I've come up with so many new songs to play
But first, I need a little help with something here.
Would anyone like to be a dear and volunteer?
You see, I need some more space! Lots of space!
Oh. I'm feeling very very suffocated in this place.
It makes me feel sick since it's hard to breathe!
And it's painful like you wouldn't believe.
Anyone want to lend me a hand?
I'll reward you for it with something grand~

All we need to do is clear a few things out...

[Look, just don't ask how there's a wolf posting on the network when it's obvious he's got no thumbs.]

What's with all the costumed girls running around? Are we in a Disney movie now?

Anyone hiring? I owned a contracting company back home, so I know my way around a construction site. Anything physical would be great, though.

Who: Werewolves and whoever else wants to hang out with them or happens by
Where: The forest
When: Sunset

There's an entire pack of wolves in the forest, and Alcide has hunted with them on occasion. They've always seemed to be somewhat suspicious of him, but he assumes that's just because he isn't one of them, and that they can sense that he's different. It doesn't really matter, though. In the American South there are no natural wolves, so it's amazing to see them running free here.

He leaves his clothes at the edge of the forest before shifting, and then disappears into the underbrush.

[ it looks like the camera was deliberately set and focused in front of a kitchen chair. there's a silver-haired boy who's sitting there. for all that's going on, he looks calm. you might've seen him around, either running errands or doing odd jobs around town. for the moment, he looks serious and calm. as the static clears he doesn't hesitate. his expression is firm and determined, and there's no wavers in his voice. it's like he was born a natural. ]

For a moment, I need everyone to stop and listen.

[ and he pauses, as if he's allow everyone to collect their thoughts, just as he is--and then he begins. ]

For all of you who don't know, my name is Souji Seta, and I'm the head of the Investigation Team here in New Moore. What I have to say is important: It's about the kidnappings and about your missing loved ones. I'm going to try to answer all the questions I can but please understand, a lot of the details surrounding this case are still unclear.

Firstly, you should know that 12 a.m. every night there occurs a phenomenon that we call the Dark Hour--an extra hour between one day and the next. It may sound crazy, but please bear with me while I explain. Usually people are asleep during it and it doesn't cause any problems, but lately it has, and more people are becoming aware of it and wake up. They can fall prey to the creatures that live in the dark hour, called Shadows. They come from humans, from us--all of us. They're the physical manifestation of our insecurities, our hateful feelings, our judgements, and all of our guilt.

Where I come from, the Dark Hour was a little different, but the events following a disappearance have all been the same: people go missing, and not long after comes the broadcast that we call the "Midnight Channel." What you're seeing on screen is real, and not real. It's the Shadow's way of crying out for recognition, but when it doesn't get what it wants, it can turn violent. We have to try and keep that from happening.

[ his tone is frank, but sincere. ]

The Shadows that you see of the people that you love are part of them, and we have to understand, because all of us have felt that way at one time or another. They can be devastating, but they're also a gift. We dig holes for ourselves and don't look out, the parts of ourselves that we hate never seen the sun. So we just continue living without dealing with it. But for once we can see it, and we can do something about it. You can't run from a Shadow, you can't fight it, and you can't save someone from themselves, all we can do is support them and help them accept the person that they are. As much as a Shadow tells you that it's its own person, it's only part. It can only become its own person when the person who manifests it denies it.

We've been investigating it since it first started taking place, but so far we've haven't been able to pinpoint a single kidnapper. We also don't know why the Dark Hour suddenly appeared in this world. For a while it stopped, and we got a lot of new faces, and suddenly, it's happening again. Someone who was here a long time ago once told me that he thought that New Moore could be a place that takes ideas from all different worlds, but I still don't know. Even after two years, I still haven't found the truth.

We also... have a time limit. We have to save people by the full moon.

I need to ask for help, from whoever is willing and able.

The Investigation Team has been helping people since the Dark Hour started happening, and I plan on helping as long as I'm here. We haven't lost anyone yet, and I don't plan on it. I know there are a lot of people who've been helping us since we've arrived, but it's time to make the whole island aware of it. We need to do something about this, but we must remember that there's a responsibility that comes with helping someone who's facing their Shadow. There can be no judgement and no doubt, all we can do is help them accept themselves.

It's a big job, I understand if there are people who know that they have to sit it out, and I won't ask anyone to do anything they don't feel comfortable with. Seeing people that you love like that is hard, but we can turn into something good.

I'll answer any questions you have the best I can.

[ and then the video ends. ]

Get me off this fucking ship.

19 September 2012 @ 04:23 pm
Is it just me, or are the outbreaks of Lunar Fever getting more and more common?  If the madness is truly catching, and if they've all caught the same delusions... I don't know what it means, but it bodes ill.  For all of us.  A ship is a very small space for a quarantine, and an island not much better.

I'd ask you, whoever you are hearing this, to answer me one thing:  how many cases have you seen on your ship?  How many cases in the town?  If we've a plague on our hands, we ought to know.  It may not kill, or at least not yet, but I've not heard of any recovering from it, either.

I think I'm gonna need some time to process that some creepy doctors just told me I'm fictional and sent me off to a new house? Kind of just want to sleep on it and then try to figure out how I'm gonna get out of this crazy place, but I uh.

[A lengthy pause while Scott tries to figure out how to say this without revealing he's a huge loser and already lost because he ripped up the map he was given when he was freaking out.]

Does anyone happen to know how to get to West 203?

[A Discovery-esque montage of nature footage begins to broadcast over the network, each video clip featuring wolves. Wolves running, wolves eating, wolves howling; even wolves fighting and mating. In the background, a cliche song about a certain big bad wolf plays. New Moore's network is at it again, it seems.

A voice can be heard over top of the video and the music, growling in irritation--]
This isn't fucking funny.

[Alcide is trying to access the network, but instead... this. Somebody's idea of a joke? That's his assumption. He's ready to throw his mobile device at a tree and watch it die.]
