That you all belong to the same social structure.
Be it a school, a military, a prison.
All these places have them.

except militaries havve hierarchical structures based on either privvileged birth or merit
uniforms exist but there has to be definitions a rank
you cant equalize evverybody and expect them to accomplish any goal beyond perpetuatin their owwn selfish interests
nothin wwould get done wwithout distinguishin the masses

[A school is not a military.
All students are on the same level as every other student.
The only distinguishing factor is perhaps seniority, but you won't ever graduate from this school so it doesn't really matter.
Besides, there are people above you in a school. They are the authoritative forces.
So all the children wear one uniform and the authoritative forces dictate how the uniform is presented.
