[Aisling was exhausted. The past weekend had been a nightmare revisited, though she had managed to change the outcome, if only a little. It was enough. The idea that her own temperament might have increased the reaction of the forest creatures lingered at the back of her mind, but she didn't have time to wallow. There were animals who needed her and...

Someone was in her forest. Quite suddenly, and at the far point of the mountains, it was true, but she was of the People. What did range matter to her? Someone was out there. And it was not the best time for it.

So off she went at top speed, zipping through the forest canopy with little more than a rustle in her wake. Approaching the treeline, she slowed, calling the mist to slowly rise and swirl - just enough to hide her as she crept forward silently. It was a girl. No older than Brenden had been when they first met. Aisling kept a few yards between them, wary of weapons, and let the mist eddy away from her.
